What is a YKA?
We are the trade union representing university graduates in the social sciences. We protect the professional, economic and social interests of our 13 700 members in the labour market. We also support our members’ career development and life skills.
We offer our members a wide range of services, including career and legal advice, training and coaching, insurance and leisure benefits. Our activities are strongly community-based: Yka members meet each other through events, student activities, peer networks, local associations and mentoring. We work to ensure that both students in the social sciences and recent graduates have the best possible opportunities in the world of work.
We work together with Dominus Association to organise events, for example, to help you get the best tips on how to get a job in the social sector! In Lappeenranta, you can also meet a YKA ambassador at various events and in university corridors.
WHAT: YKA is a professional organisation that, together with its student organisation Finnish Students in the Social Sciences (SYY), represents the interests of social experts in studying and working life. YKA and SYY exist to enable every socially-minded person to study in peace, find their own thing in the field and balance work and private life.
